David Kubal Professional Interests

radio engineer

Rather than being an expert in a narrow field, I have always aimed to be a systems engineer capable of designing complex electronic systems. Instead of blindly following recent trends in any particular area, I focus on identifying useful general design concepts that can be applied repeatedly across different domains. My formal education and most extensive experience are in radio electronics, with a focus on radar systems.

Recently, my attention has been shifting from products themselves to the ways they are designed, and from solving technical problems to reflecting on what to create and what not to create, in order to genuinely improve people’s lives. I am also interested in the organisation of the new product development process, including all stages required to prepare a design for manufacturing.

Although my mindset is constructive and cooperative rather than destructive or aggressive, I have always been interested in military electronics. The main reason is the strong orientation of military technology toward the specific purpose for which it is intended. In contrast, consumer electronics is often designed less to serve the user and more to generate revenue through sales. Ship, aerospace, and industrial electronics are also areas that align closely with my professional interests.
